Revere awarded $223.8M Grant for new High School
On April 24, 2024, State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, who is Chair of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), and MSBA Executive Director/Deputy CEO Mary Pichetti announced that the MSBA Board of Directors voted to approve a grant of up to $233,889,807 for a new Revere High School. One of the next steps is for the district and the MSBA to enter into a Project Funding Agreement, which will detail the project’s scope and budget, along with the conditions under which the district will receive its MSBA grant.

Billerica police sergeant killed in crash at construction site
A longtime veteran of the Billerica Police Department was killed in a crash while working a construction detail on Friday. Sgt. Ian Taylor, 49, was working a detail at the intersection of Boston Road at Pollard Street when the crash happened around 2 p.m. He was helping a tractor-trailer move around the busy scene when he was struck by an excavator that was moving equipment at the site, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Driver Arrested After Hitting Bicyclist
A driver was arrested this morning for operating under the influence of alcohol after hitting a bicyclist. The bicyclist suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. On Friday, April 26, 2024 at 12:38am Officers responded to the intersection of Otis St., Downer Ave. and Daley Rd. for a report of a crash involving an SUV and a bicycle. Officers found the injured bicyclist in the road on Daly Rd. The SUV had damage to the front end. Hingham Fire Paramedics transported the 39 year old bicyclist to South Shore Hospital. The SUV driver was not injured.
Another cold start, but milder temperatures expected for the weekend
We had another widespread hard freeze across all of New England with freeze warnings Friday morning in southern New England and along the coast. Temperatures dropped to the 20s in many more spots compared to Thursday morning. This afternoon will be nice and sunny again thanks to high pressure settling in.
