Tracking rain and storms this weekend
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Despite the showers on Wednesday, our week has been overall dry. It has also been very hot with temperatures into the upper 80s yesterday afternoon. We were only able to hit 88 degrees Thursday afternoon, so we were not able to tie the daily high record of 90 degrees. Now, we are still going to be unseasonably warm today, but with more cloud cover around during the afternoon, it will not be as hot as Thursday. Still, we are going to start off on the mild side with temperatures across the Mid-Ohio Valley in the upper 50s to lower 60s. By time we hit noon, we are back into the low 80s and will continue to climb into the mid-80s this afternoon.

Getting hotter for the end of the week
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - May is already off to a very warm start across the Mid-Ohio Valley. The official start of summer is not until June 20th, but it feels like we should be now in the start of June. Temperatures today will quickly heat up later this morning and into the afternoon. The morning commute will start off in the mid-50s and then we make our climb to the 80-degree mark, which should be reached by around noon. Heading further through the day, highs are going to climb into the upper 80s. We will be very close to the 90-degree mark, but we are not expected to hit that. Speaking of 90, that is our daily high temperature record for today. That was set back in 1959. Typically, we should be around 72 degrees this time of year. Not only will we be well above that today, but that will continue into Friday.
