Edmonds man stops for gas, buys a winning lottery ticket
An Edmonds resident and business owner who won $10,000 recently from Washington’s Lottery will use it toward his dream of purchasing a new home for his family. The morning that Elvin from Edmonds bought the winning ticket, he said goodbye to his wife and sons and headed into work for the day. Rather than spend his day in the office doing paperwork, he opted to head to Everett for an onsite job. After wrapping up for the day, he stopped at the Casino Tesoro gas station nearby to fill his tank and purchased a Match 4 ticket before heading home to his family.
Staying safe on the water: Warm temps are here, but the water remains cold
It’s going to be a hot weekend in Western Washington and that means people will be flocking to local beaches, lakes, rivers and waterways. Although the air temperatures will be the warmest this year, that doesn’t mean the water temperatures are as well. “You hit that water it’s 50 degrees the first thing you’re going to do is go ooh!” Russ Baker, of Candere Cruising, said. Candere Cruising provides sightseeing tours around the Puget Sound and Lake Union. If you’re not wearing a life jacket or have one on board, things can turn from a good time to an emergency situation quickly. Seattle Fire says if someone is struggling in the water, do not jump in after them. “They’re likely to grab you and pull you down under and you know whoever responds has to find two victims rather than one,” Kaila Lafferty, of SFD, said. “Don’t jump in after them, that can cause a way bigger situation.” She said the best thing you can do is call 911 and wait for rescuers to arrive. SFD always has rescue swimmers on shift so they can respond at a moment’s notice.
Seattle musician feeling 'profound loss' after $250K cello stolen from home
SEATTLE — A professional musician is asking for the public's help in finding her $250,000 cello after it was stolen from her home in Seattle's Central District. "I could barely breathe. I was in such shock and it feels a lot like grief," said Sarah Rommel. "I think right now I'm mostly feeling a profound sense of loss and not so much [on] how it happened. For me, I'm so focused on getting it back and ... using the grief, even anger, as determination."
