Man pleads guilty to deadly shooting in Shreveport; judge issues sentence
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A 23-year-old Shreveport man has pleaded guilty to a deadly shooting, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office announced Monday, March 10. Early Monday, Datavious Simmons, 23, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the deadly 2021 shooting, the DA says. He entered the plea just as his trial was set to start in Caddo District Court. As a result of his plea, Simmons was immediately sentenced to 18 years in prison.

New viewer-submitted video shows a woman walking on eastbound Interstate 20 in Shreveport on March 7, 2025, apparently moments before she was struck by a vehicle on the westbound side of the highway. KSLA News 12 viewer Dan Gordon said he called 911 when he came upon her near the Greenwood Road exit. The woman, whose name has not been released, was fighting for her life after being hit by a car about 6:15 p.m. on westbound I-20 near Hearne Avenue.
