Season-high performances and lockdown goalies: 15 Shore boys lacrosse standouts from Week 3

The third week of the boys lacrosse high school season had its share of standout players.

There's been a good number of goalies that have protected the net, underclassmen that have stepped up and everything else in between. Whether it's consistent scorers or defenders, here's the top lax bros from last week. These performances are from Jan. 15 through 21.

Luke Lydon, Rumson-Fair Haven, So.

He finished with a season-high six goals to go with two assists, and eight ground balls in a win over over Shore on Wednesday.

Nick Bounassi, Manasquan, Sr.

The High Point University commit has still not let in 10 or more goals in a single game. He made six saves and allowed two goals in a win over Holmdel.

Ryan Martin, CBA, Sr.

The attackman had four goals and two assists in a win over Red Bank Regional on Tuesday. On Saturday he also had one goal and three assists against Iona Prep.

Brady Cooke, Shore, Sr.

He scored half of his teams points with two goals in a close 4-2 win over Toms River East on Friday. He also had one goal and assist in a win over Southern.

Brian Volpe, Holmdel, Jr.

The attackman scored four goals in a win over Howell Friday and had two goals in a victory over Red Bank Catholic on Monday.

Liam Griffin, Southern, Jr.

He had two goals and one assist Monday in a narrow 11-10 win over Clearview. He's 25 points shy from hitting 100 in his career.

Ryan Caruso, Toms River East, Fr.

The goalie and freshman has continued his streak of not allowing 10 or more goals in a single game. Even in a 4-2 loss to Shore on Friday he made 15 saves to keep the game close.

Christian Zdziarski, Manalapan, Sr.

The attackman had four goals including five ground balls in a winning effort against Colts Neck on Monday. He also had two goals and one assist over Freehold Township on Friday.

Jackson Lu, Red Bank Catholic, Sr.

He hit the 100th career goal mark Saturday with a three-goal performance against Kinnelon. He also had two goals and assists against Jackson Memorial on Wednesday.

Brady Kirk, Point Pleasant Boro, Jr.

The Marist College commit attackman had a season-high five goals against Brick Memorial on Saturday. He also had four goals and five assists against Barnegat.

Hayden Mattos, Middletown North, Sr.

Mattos had five goals and one assist in a win over Marlboro on Wednesday.

Ben Girard, Ocean Township, Sr.

The midfielder had three goals and assists in a blowout win over Neptune on Wednesday. He also had four goals against Barnegat on Monday.

Paul Capozzi, Jackson Liberty, Sr.

The Chestnut Hill College has been doing it all last week with five goals, two assists, three ground balls, and won 64% of his face-offs in a win over Ocean on Friday.

Nick Correia, Brick Memorial, So.

He had four goals and two assists in a win over Lacey Friday. Against Central, he had two goals and assists for the win.

Andrew Pape, Red Bank Regional, Sr.

The midfielder had two goals against CBA on Tuesday, five goals against Haddonfield on Thursday, and four goals against Monroe on Saturday.
