Coastal Utilities on Franchise Street was hit this week for the second time this year and no arrests have been made. Fines now possible after ‘Carolina Squat’ vehicle grace period ends
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - The grace period for squatted vehicles is over after six months of the Carolina Squat Law. Beginning Friday, drivers with squatted vehicles face fines for driving on the roadways. Squatted vehicles have either the front or back fender four inches higher than the other. The first offense gets a $100 fine and the second is $200. The third offense is $300 and a one-year license suspension. Each offense is valid within five years of each other.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - Police have identified the suspects in an armed carjacking that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning.
