Water District urges private well owners to represent themselves in water adjudication

It literally walks people through how to prepare that initial disclosure,” said Indian Wells Valley Water District legal counsel Jim Worth, urging private well owners to sign up to become parties in the ongoing comprehensive water adjudication lawsuit. “It’s not ‘legalese.’ It’s just very simple questions about what they have pumped and where they have pumped for the past ten years. Crusaders softball falls in first round of playoff
The Immanuel Christian softball team was on the road for the first round of CIF-Central Division V playoffs. The Crusaders visited the No. 6 East Yosemite fifth place Porterville Panthers, and lost 11-1 in six innings. Immanuel went into the top of the sixth trailing 9-0 and scored its sole run but gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Crusaders finish the season with a 12-6 overall record and a sixth straight Hi-Lo championship with an undefeated record of 8-0.
Softball Recap: California City wins going away against East Bakersfield
California City had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the East Bakersfield Blades with a sharp 12-2 victory on Wednesday. California City might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Delta Iota Master Sorority installs new officers
At the May meeting of the Delta Iota Master sorority, officers for the 2024-25 year were installed. The new board will include Barbara Underwood (treasurer), Sue Moulton (corresponding secretary), Rosie Holtrop (standing in for newly-elected secretary Kathi Moe), Sherry Nickell (president), and Betty Yon (vice president). Ann McCubbin (on far right) officiated at the installation. The chapter will be in recess until the fall, 2024.
Local pitcher makes All Conference Honorable Mention
Former Burroughs pitcher and current Midland University pitcher Cody Kent was selected to the Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention. Kent made a team high 16 appearances this season for the Warriors. He finished his sophomore season with a 3-0 record with 4.96 ERA and 14 strikeouts. Kent spoke on his excitement to being selected to All-Conference Honorable Mention team.

Burroughs track and field celebrate athletes and season
The Burroughs track and field program held its annual banquet to commemorate the season and athletes. The Burros girls ended the season as Mojave River League champions and the Burros boys finished with a 3-2 season. Head Coach Tony Martin and the rest of his coaching staff gave out awards to the athletes after another successful season.

Children’s Hour at Maturango Museum to feature 'Discoveries in the Garden'
The last Children’s Hour of this spring season will be celebrated by exploring the Museum’s Gladys Merrick Desert Garden, Friday May 24, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The children will learn about the garden through a variety of activities such as exhibits prepared by taxidermists, informational and fun stories and special crafts.
