GREENSBORO, N.C. — Towering a parking lot off Guilford College Road, sits what will be the fourth TopGolf in the state of North Carolina. Folks living in the Triad will no longer have to drive to bigger cities to play, they just have to make their way down I-40.
Victory Junction Camp turns 20
The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America has clocked many miles in its 28 years of existence. The milestones along the way have also been significant. This spring’s edition kicks off Saturday with plans to add many more miles to the annual philanthropic gathering of the NASCAR and motorcycling community — more than 2,100 on this year’s odometer, stretching from a start in Deadwood, South Dakota to its home base in Randleman, North Carolina. Western Crew Looking Stellar in First Races
The Western Albemarle High School crew team traveled to High Point, North Carolina, April 20 for the North Carolina State Rowing Championships regatta. With most of the scullers rowing two events, the team entered 43 boats in 29 events. Western dominated the sculling events, bringing home 31 medals, 14 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze. Some of the team’s younger rowers medaled multiple times. The team also brought home the Craig Redinger Mens Youth Double Trophy, named after the team’s head coach. Two women rowers captured gold for WAHS in their single events.
Ragsdale names Stevenson as football coach
JAMESTOWN — Antwon Stevenson will be the next varsity football coach at Ragsdale, the school announced Thursday. Stevenson — who starred as a player at High Point Central in the 1990s — has been head coach at Glenn since 2015. He will take over for Johnny Boykin, who stepped down earlier this spring to coach at Clinton, his alma mater.
OU men's basketball lands High Point's Duke Miles via transfer portal
NORMAN — Porter Moser secured his fourth commitment out of the transfer portal on Friday. High Point transfer guard Duke Miles announced his commitment to OU over Auburn on Friday. At 6-foot-3, Miles averaged 17.5 points per game last season and was named to the All-Big South First Team.
