Students at Thoreau High School fighting to stop a potential hazardous waste site
THOREAU, N.M. — Nearly 100 students sent letters to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham writing about stopping a potential nuclear waste site coming to the town of Thoreau. "It's our town. It's our home. What do you do when someone goes on your home? You tell them to leave. You protect land that's yours. You must protect it," said Izekial Gonzalez, a 10th-grade student at Thoreau High School.
