Raleigh County Commission approves reimbursement for sheriff’s office

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the Raleigh County Commission came together last week for the Regular Session meeting of the commission at which multiple budget revisions were presented for discussion.

Among the revisions in question was an adjustment presented for consideration by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office which would see a $20,000-plus increase in the department’s overtime line, among other things.

The revision, a reimbursement pertaining to security and task force efforts from the department, totals at $25,107.

$20,107 would go toward an increase in the department’s overtime line, while $5,000 would be earmarked for materials and supplies – totaling at $25,107.

The reimbursement was ultimately approved by the commission, with a motion being seconded and carrying early on in the meeting.

Tuesday’s session also saw approval for consideration of an intergovernmental agreement between Raleigh County. the City of Beckley, and the Raleigh Count Solid Waste authority.

The agreement, characterized as standard annual fare for the three entities to work in coordination with one another, was approved by the Raleigh County Commission as well.
