Wisconsin father and son duo advance through American Idol auditions to Hollywood
Big news for a father/son musical duo in Hayward. Sean and Ian Okamoto have advanced through their audition and will be going further in their American Idol journey. Local drug awareness forum to be held April 9

Man pleads guilty to OWI-8
A Sarona man pleaded guilty on Friday to a charge of eighth-offense operating while intoxicated. Roger D. Harrison, 70, was charged on Aug. 16, 2022, in Barron County Circuit Court with the felony after police say he nearly collided with a vehicle driven by a Barron County Sheriff’s Department investigator while speeding and attempting to pass other vehicles on Highway 8. According to the criminal complaint, Harrison’s preliminary breath test result was 0.249. Harrison bond was revoked, and he is in Barron County Jail facing a fine of up to $25,000 and up to 12½ years in prison at his sentencing hearing scheduled for June 4.
HHS student's conservation poster in national contest
Two Hayward High School students showcased their artistic skills by creating a poster with a conservation-based theme for the annual contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association and Sawyer County Land and Forest Resources Committee. The Hayward Hurricanes track and field teams opened their 2024 season with a roar Tuesday March 18 as both the girls and boys squads took first place in the eight-school Ashland Large School Invitational at the Ashland Fieldhouse.
