Rotary Oktoberfest street festival on Saturday to offer German beer, food trucks, music, family fun
QUINCY — Rotary’s Oktoberfest returns to The District and QUBA (Quincy Brewery Arts) with more to do, more to see and three high-energy bands. Admission is free on Saturday, Sept. 30, from noon until 10 p.m. in the German Historic District outside of QUBA’s Dick Brothers Brewery on York Street between Ninth and 10th Streets. All proceeds from the event will benefit local Rotary projects.

QUINCY — Quincy’s Golden K Kiwanis Club is taking orders for Claxton fruitcakes for the holiday season. Order for yourself or your business. Other options include participating in the “Sponsor a Vet” program to say thank you to a veteran or sponsoring a senior citizen program to give seniors a holiday treat. Fruitcakes are priced at $10. Flavors available are regular (the most popular) and dark (made with molasses and rum.)

Ghost tours of Woodland Cemetery to be offered in October by Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County
QUINCY — The Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County’s annual Woodland Cemetery ghost tours will be held beginning Saturday, Oct. 7 and continue every Saturday in October. The tour also will be offered on Halloween night. Daily tour times available are 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The historic Potawatomi Trail of Death caravan included Potawatomi Indians and their allies. They journeyed through Quincy, where descendants of the original Potawatomi from the 1830s reside. The Friends of the Log Cabins Association hosted them for a picnic at a Quincy memorial site.
