Man struck by subway in Queens: MTA

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man was struck by a train at the Forest Hills–71st Avenue station in Queens on Tuesday, MTA officials said .

The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m., authorities said. Service changes impacted at least five train lines, but normal service has since resumed.

E, F M, and R trains were severely delayed while emergency services rendered aid to the man. M trains were running on the J line between the Delancey Street/Essex Street station and the Chambers Street station, which was the last stop.

The MTA had recommended subway riders utilize N, W, and No. 7 trains for service between Manhattan and Queens.

M trains were not running between Essex and Forest Hills, and subway riders were expected to wait longer for J trains, as they shared the track with rerouted M trains, according to the MTA.

The man sustained a hand injury and was taken to a hospital. The incident does not appear to be criminal in nature, according to the NYPD.
