Bus driver and one student were sent to the hospital after a Bus crashed on a highway
Mt. Vernon, MO – A school bus carrying the Mount Vernon Missouri baseball team, was involved in an accident around 8:30 last night in newton county. The driver experienced a medical emergency on Missouri Highway 43 south of Petro. The bus was traveling at highway speed, went off the road, and hit a culvert. One student was taken to a Joplin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bus driver was taken to a hospital by private vehicle.
Man & woman from Anderson die in single-vehicle crash
MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. — Two people are dead after a single-vehicle crash in southwest Missouri, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. Dane Paulson, 25, was driving northbound along Highway 59 in Ginger Blue when his vehicle left the right side of the road and struck a tree. The crash happened just after midnight on Monday.

Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will meet on May 23 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. Guest speakers will include two area candidates for State Representative: Jeremy Dean from the 132nd in Springfield, and Rebecca Jensen, from the 160th District in Newton County. There will be reports from the group’s two scholarship award presentations, and discussion on fundraising events for Missi Hesketh in the U.S. 7th District Congressional race. Hurley "Cowboy'd Up" for Shodeo
With boots, chaps, and cowboy hats, Hurley families showed out for the first shodeo of 2024. Hosted by Spring Creek Saddle Club, the event held events for five age groups such as barrels, flags, Texas barrels, poles, and surprise races.
