Favorite Groundhog Day family restaurant to close for good

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A community favorite family restaurant in Punxsutawney announced it will be closing its doors for good.

Punxy Phil’s Family Restaurant took to their Facebook page Thursday where they said they will be closing on Sunday, May 12 due to ongoing staffing issues. They also explained the issues prevented them from continuing to serve their customers “in a way that we have all come to expect.”

We want to thank our amazing and dedicated staff that has brought us to this point. The success we’ve had and the obstacles we’ve overcome were only possible because of them and all their hard work and dedication.

In the post, the restaurant owners took the opportunity to thank everyone for their support and said “It’s been an absolute pleasure serving the community.”
