Each week we shine a spotlight on animals at local shelters that are looking for their forever home. This week's Big Country Pet of the Week is Thomasina. Thomasina is waiting to meet her new family at the Humane Society of the Palouse. She is a 7-year-old, spayed, 9lb, fully-grown shorthair tortoiseshell cat.Described by shelter staff as chatty, friendly, outgoing, affectionate, and playful.

Finals Fest marks the end of the academic year by hosting bands to provide a concert for students at the University of Idaho. Previous artists included Post Malone and Macklemore, but this year featured Seattle based indie-folk band Fleet Foxes as the headliner and locally-based Desolation Horse as the opening band.
Kid's Fishing Day at Hordemann Pond in Moscow on April 27
Idaho Fish and Game's new fishing trailer will be stocked with rods and reels available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're not sure how to fish...no problem! Casting demonstrations and fishing instruction will be provided to new anglers. Hordemann Pond is located off Eisenhower Street between D and F streets. A fishing license is not required while the trailer is present, however all other regulations apply.

Community band holding half-century anniversary concert
Community Band of the Palouse is celebrating its 50th anniversary Friday with a free concert open to the community. Don Peters, CBOP saxophone player and founding member, said the band began in 1974 as the Pullman Community Band. But in the 2000s, the name was changed because the band consisted of people who lived throughout the entirety of the Palouse, not just Pullman.
