How About Some Peace and Quiet This Weekend? Here's a Hiking Guide to 19 Trails in the Princeton Area

Princeton, NJ – If you have a little extra time this Memorial Day weekend and would like to enjoy a nice long walk, without accompanying marching bands, bagpipers, noisy kids, and raucous revelers, then you will find a recent release from our friends at Sustainable Princeton most welcome.

The nonprofit climate action group offered some tips for a sustainable Memorial Day weekend, with a link to a website – alltrails.com -- that offers guides to 19 trails in the Princeton region, including 15 in Princeton. The listings include length of the walk, degree of difficulty (almost all are easy), and accessibility. You can search on kid-friendly walks, wheelchair accessible, and whether dogs are permitted, among other search filters.

The scenic photos that accompany each trail are accompanied by a hand-curated map.

With this guide you know where you are going and what you’re passing by. Compared to the Memorial Day parade down Nassau Street or the P-Rade on the Princeton University campus, the walks are likely to be somewhat lonely and very quiet.

The San Francisco-based Alltrails makes this information available for free. Users can pay for advanced features and also buy hiking merchandise through the site. The socially conscious company denotes a portion of its revenues “to protecting the wild places we cherish.”
