Be a space scientist at Sci-Port this summer
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A free summer STEM program will give area students the opportunity to take on the role of space scientists with GSK Science in the Summer. Nearly 800 children in Shreveport-Bossier will join thousands of students nationwide as they learn about space science with hands-on, age-appropriate experiments and local community organizations.
High-speed powerboat races return to the Red River in Shreveport, Bossier this weekend.
Formula 1 powerboats reach up to 120 mph. The Red River Rumble F1 Powerboat Showdown over Memorial Day weekend will feature approximately 50 high-speed powerboats. The races will be May 24–26 and are viewable from Riverview Park in Shreveport and from the Bossier Boardwalk. Admission is free. A VIP experience includes prime viewing, food, drinks, access to the Shreveport Aquarium, and a pass to Mudbug Madness, which will occur over the weekend at Festival Plaza in Shreveport.

Shreveport rising high school senior killed in wreck Friday
A Shreveport teen was killed in a wreck near the Port of Caddo-Bossier Friday afternoon. Captain Shreve student Cole Moore, 16, died when the northbound Camaro he was driving on Louisiana Highway 1 just before 3:50 p.m. struck an eighteen-wheeler turning east into the port at Ron Bean Boulevard.
