Summer 2024: Why it may not be so bad!
We all know that 2024 has gotten off to a rather wet start. In fact, through April, Shreveport has seen 13 days where it received at least 1” of rain. That is a new high in records that go back to 1874. This is only the TENTH year since 1874 that Shreveport has seen at least ten days where an inch or more of rain fell during the first four months of the year. That led me to this question, ‘What was the summer like in the other 9 years?’ While the Climate Prediction Center’s summer outlook calls for above-normal average temperatures, I found strong evidence that gives us hope that this summer could end up with a lower-than-normal number of days with triple-digit heat and possibly below-normal average temperatures.

Billed as an effort to reduce the burden on a understaffed police force answering early morning issues, owners took issue with changes that ordinance revision would mean for their staffs' working hours, their businesses' bottom line and the fairness of disparity between downtown bars and those elsewhere.
