Logan father convicted of starving baby to death sentenced to prison after violating probation
LOGAN — A 39-year-old Logan man convicted of starving his one-month old baby to death has been sent to prison after violating the conditions of his probation. Zachary Michael Woirhaye had previously avoided a prison term and was sentenced to one year in jail and probation in March 2023.
USU men’s basketball: Molinari following Calhoun to Logan
In a busy week of announcements by new head Aggie men’s basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun, a chief of staff for the program was officially released Friday afternoon. Paul Molinari has followed Calhoun from Youngstown State to Utah State. Molinari is a 30-year coaching veteran at the Division I and II levels. He spent the last seven years at Youngstown State with Calhoun.
Prep track & field: Preston girls capture district title at home
What has already been a memorable season just keeps getting better for Preston’s girls track & field program. The Indians reigned supreme in convincing fashion at the 4A Fifth District District Championships on their refurbished track this past week. The Preston girls racked up 81 points at the two-day meet, which concluded Friday. Century was second with 54 points, followed by Pocatello with 51.
Board names Allen Matthews as new artistic director of Cache Children's Choir
LOGAN – The Board of Directors of the Cache Children’s Choir (CCC) has named Allen Matthews as the organization’s new artistic director. Matthews is a teacher and has directed choirs at the Logan Institute of Religion at Utah State University. He succeeds Christopher Machado as director of the CCC choral group. Machado was appointed to that position in 2023.
Silver Alert issued for Logan man missing since Saturday
LOGAN, Utah, May 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Silver Alert has been issued for a Logan man last seen Saturday evening. Theodore Andra, 84, was most recently seen at about 7 p.m. in the area of 1565 E. 1100 North. According to the alert, he has a hard time with directions and is not supposed to be driving.
Logan City prioritizes connectivity in 5-year community development plan
The City of Logan is nearing approval of their community plan that includes improving sidewalks and public services. Every five years, as a recipient of the Community Development Block Grant, the City of Logan formulates a five-year plan with community goals oriented toward low-to-moderate income residents. This year, Director of Community Development Mike DeSimone said the city is particularly focused on connectivity.
