Weather alert announced for dense fog in North Country until Monday morning

A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Monday at 4:21 a.m. for dense fog until 9 a.m. for St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton and Essex counties. "Fog is widespread across the region this morning, extending beyond the typical river valleys. The most dense fog is spread across St. Lawrence County and in northern Vermont. Give extra time to get to your destination. Avoid using high beams and adjust speeds to give space and time to react as needed within areas of thick fog," says the weather service.

Nice today, unsettled stretch ahead

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) — Happy Monday, our Monday morning started with patchy dense fog early on, but we find more sunshine into this afternoon and evening. While most of us see a good deal of sunshine, there could be more cloud cover and a few spotty showers the further west you look, in particular out towards St. Lawrence County. High temperatures for the day climb back into the mid and upper 70s this afternoon. Clouds return for most tonight, as lows dip into the 50s and lower 60s by early Tuesday morning.

Scattered showers today with the slight chance for a thunderstorm. Pleasant weather returns for Monday.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A slow-moving cold front is bringing scattered showers to northern parts of the region this morning. The rest of today will have scattered showers continuing along with the chance for a thunderstorm. Though a total washout isn’t expected, you may want to bring an umbrella if you plan to go to the Champlain Valley Fair. Highs will be in the 70s, cooling into the 60s in northern areas late in the day.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - It turned out to be a pleasant day for the first day of the Champlain Valley Fair. Tonight will be a bit chilly with lows in the 40s to near 50 degrees. A few of the colder valleys will dip into the upper 30s. Patchy fog is possible early Saturday morning, otherwise it will be sunny and beautiful with highs in the 70s. Sunday looks iffy, as computer models disagree with how wet it’s going to be. Right now, it’s expected to be partly sunny with scattered showers, mainly during the afternoon. Highs will be in the 70s. Any showers will move out overnight.
