Two charged in burglary turned shooting

PORT CARBON, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two men are being charged for their involvement in a burglary-turned-shooting in Schuylkill County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Dennis Powanda, 40, and Vincent Yakaitis, 74, both of Pottsville were charged for a shooting on February 7, 2023.

Man charged with trafficking 400g of fentanyl, gun violations

On February 7 troopers said they investigated an incident where a man was burglarizing a house and was shot by the property owner.

Through further investigation, Powanda was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft, and other related charges. Yakaitis was charged with a firearm not to be carried without a license.

Bail was set at unsecured for both of the two men.
