Madison Maglievaz is a Poteet High School graduate, class of 2021 attending Mississippi State University. She is graduating with a bachelor’s degree this December in Political Science with a minor in International Studies. Last summer, she interned at the US Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. This summer, she will be interning with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Budapest, Hungary.
Eagles unable to fend off comeback
The Pleasanton Eagles baseball team concluded their season on the diamond Saturday following a tough series against Bishop. After dominating the series opener Friday night, Pleasanton was separated by just a run in Games 2 and 3. It was the only time all season the Eagles (30-6) fell in backto back contests.
Zoom to the finish line
The all-girl Poteet High School racing team zoomed into third place at the 2024 Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Race held on April 19. With the vision to generate excitement and awareness of vocational opportunities associated with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), the competition took place at the Freeman Coliseum Expo Hall in San Antonio. The race was hosted by the South Texas Business Partnership.

200 roosters, guns and drugs seized in cockfighting ring bust
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — 200 roosters, along with drugs and guns, were seized during a cockfighting ring bust on Saturday, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. After catching wind of the illegal operation, BCSO said they responded to the 26000 block of Sand Cliff Drive in south Bexar County early on Saturday. Upon arrival, deputies were able to seize 200 roosters, guns and then later found drugs in a truck on the property.
