PORTALES, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — Eastern New Mexico University announced that its Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking will present a theatre performance of “Dearly Departed” by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones.

According to ENMU officials, “Dearly Departed” will host live performances in ENMU’s Studio Theatre at the University Theatre Center (UTC) from April 18 through April 20. The show will begin at 7 p.m.

ENMU officials said a matinee performance will be on April 21 at 2 p.m. General admission is $10 per ticket, while senior citizens and active duty military tickets are $7. Tickets can be purchased in advance on ENMU’s website.

“‘Dearly Departed’ is a comedy about a dysfunctional country family that comes together to plan a funeral in the Deep South. It is both a parody and a love letter to life in the Deep South,” said ENMU officials.

“This play is an all-out enjoyable comedy,” said Leonard Madrid, director of the performance and Associate Professor of Theatre. “Not only is it important for our students to learn the difficult skill of performing comedy, but it is also important to have plays that are just fun to watch without a lesson.”
