A Friday night altercation in Monrovia turned fatal when a woman shot an armed man who reportedly violated a restraining order by appearing at her doorstep. Officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the man, armed with knives, attempted to stab a man and woman residing at the home on South Shamrock Avenue. The incident occurred around 9:47 p.m., with the woman firing upon the assailant to halt his advance, as KTLA reports.

A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Fontana on May 19, according to the Fontana Police Department. At about 11:19 p.m., the male pedestrian attempted to cross Foothill Boulevard from the south side to the north side, west of Oleander Avenue. The incident took place outside of the crosswalk while eastbound and westbound traffic had a green light, said Public Information Officer Daniel Romero.

Man Charged with Fatal Shooting in Fullerton
A 20-year-old Fullerton man was expected in court Monday on charges of gunning down a 19-year-old man and attempting to kill another victim in Fullerton. Alexis David Rodriguez-Lopez was charged Friday with murder and attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for the personal discharge of a gun. The defendant was 17 when he was initially charged in Juvenile Court. However, he was found to be unsuitable for a trial in that court and was charged as an adult.
Construction starting on $12 billion high-speed rail between SoCal, Las Vegas
