BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Demand for agriculture labor has increased significantly, pushing farmers and producers to look for help abroad. According to Job Service North Dakota, farmers and AG producers rely heavily on the H-2A program. It allows U.S. agriculture employers to hire foreign workers for temporary farm, crop, or livestock work. There were just under 500 unfilled agricultural jobs across the state in August. Most of these vacant farm positions are located in the northeastern and south-central parts of North Dakota.

Keith Rekow, district sales manager in the Dakotas for Hoegemeyer, covers northern South Dakota and central North Dakota, where record July heat raised early fears of drought stress.
