Proposed legislation in Pennsylvania would require Uber, Lyft drivers to take extra safety steps
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pennsylvania lawmaker has proposed new legislation aimed at increasing safety for passengers using rideshare apps like Lyft and Uber. According to the memo written by Rep. Tim Brennan (D-Bucks County), 50% of all 18-to-29-year-olds and 24% of adults aged 50 and older have used a rideshare service.Under the new proposed legislation, drivers would need to take measures to properly identify themselves throughout their vehicle, including identification with their photo, name, and license plate number of vehicle that they're driving. There are three main focused of the proposed legislation and drivers will need to have the following:Markers or signs that can be illuminatedBarcodes in the rear and passenger windowsCredential placards Currently, the bill has yet to be introduced and Rep. Brennan is asking other members to support to the proposed legislation.
Beware of scam: Pa. housing agency issues warning about fake Facebook page
A fake account on Facebook is presenting itself as the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency in an attempt to get personal information. The fraudulent page is sharing information about housing choice voucher programs being open, but the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency does not administer housing choice vouchers. The fake page is also sponsoring their posts, paying for the scam to be pushed to the public.
Police: Man claims 'the devil made him' attempt to murder sister in Bellefonte

Centre County interchange project moving forward after two decades
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) – After decades of planning and delay, PennDOT is moving forward with a new interchange between I-99 and I-80 in the Bellefonte area. The interchange will be right outside of Bellefonte on the way to Zion where I-99, I-80 and Route 26 all intersect. Assistant District Executive for Design Eric Murnyick says that this area is often congested, especially during event season. The new interchange is meant to help increase traffic flow.
