NASHUA, NH – The final day of the school year is an annual rite of passage. Students emptied locker contents into knapsacks and they sit impatiently staring at the wall clock anticipating the dismissal bell and the freedom of summer. At Elm Street Middle School this ritual has occurred every year for 85 years.
Letters to the Editor: A new era for Special Ed in Lowell
The decision to develop a specialized or “dedicated” school is an exciting opportunity for Lowell Public Schools. By “dedicated”, I mean a school that is dedicated to providing highly specialized instruction and support to students who really need it. It will serve as one option for Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to consider after they have first discussed a student’s disability impact, efforts to educate the student, and the student’s response to that effort as documented by data.

Andover's Buckley honored as Moynihan Lumber Student-Athlete of the Year
HAVERHILL — Michaela Buckley was a dynamo on the basketball court, a tremendously gifted playmaker and leader that led Andover to a state title and four years of success. But, even more important than the recent Andover High graduate’s stellar accomplishments on the hardwood was a record of true excellence in the classroom with 4.6 grade-point average. Last Tuesday, she was honored for their achievements in both arenas.

Whittier Tech Metal Fabrication Students Undertake Rehab of Georgetown Police Cells
Prisoner cells at Georgetown Police Station were recently rehabilitated by Metal Fabrication students at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School. Seventeen students in different grades, working under the direction of Welding Instructor Steve Palmer, undertook the job after Georgetown Police Chief David Sedgwick raised concerns over existing issues. These included the quality of the sheet metals and brackets inside the prisoner cells and their risk to inmate safety.
