PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt lost a second player to the transfer portal, this one started a few games this year but probably didn’t fit into future plans.

Quarterback Christian Veilleux announced on Tuesday morning that ‘I had a great time here in Pittsburgh’ and thanked the coaches, but that he is leaving with two years of eligibility. The Panthers still have four quarterbacks on scholarship and Veilleux appeared to be third-string at best this season.

Transferring from Penn State to Pitt, Veilleux started five games for the Panthers last season, played in seven 94-184 for 1,179 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. After beating Louisville and throwing for 302 yards and two touchdowns against Wake Forest, the Ottawa native threw four interceptions against Notre Dame and struggled against Florida State and Syracuse.

It comes a day after Westinghouse High School graduate Dayon Hayes announced he was leaving and was going to play his final year elsewhere.
