Centerville baseball team wins series over defending state champ Harleton
The Centerville baseball team won two games in one day to advance to the Class 2A Region III finals as the Tigers defeated defending state champ Harleton 7-4 and 8-2 on Saturday at Rusk High School. Centerville dropped Thursday's regional semifinals opener 8-7 in eight innings before turning things around.

Memorial ceremony set
A Memorial Day ceremony will be held on the county courthouse grounds in Quitman on Monday, May 27 at 11:30 a.m. This marks the 24th year for the ceremony to honor the nation’s fallen military members, following the erection of the Wood County military monument in 2000 by the Wood County Military Monument Committee.
