Pittsburg official discusses inflation’s toll on City Hall & budget
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Inflation isn’t just impacting local residents, it’s also affecting City Hall. Pittsburg Deputy City Manager Jay Byers says the city’s budget has “most definitely” been impacted by inflation. Byers notes that a few years ago, during the pandemic, there were some extreme spikes in some products due to problems with the supply chain, but for the most part, that has leveled out.
Pittsburg advances downtown development with community input
PITTSBURG, Kans. — The City of Pittsburg is continuing to work on the development of downtown. City staff have taken all of the thoughts and concerns from the community from last week’s Downtown Community Conversation and given them to a consultant to review and put into a report.
Kleinmann Makes Campaign Stop in Pittsburg
From asking detailed questions and suggesting helpful resources, to being welcomed to a packed room full of cheers and applause – Congressional Candidate Matt Kleinmann is already working on getting plugged into Pittsburg to earn the vote for the 2nd district seat. Accompanied by his wife, Sangeeta Shastry, after making the drive to Pittsburg on May 31, Kleinmann spoke with local community leaders working in early childhood development and caring for the unhoused population, but Kleinmann made it clear that he came to the community to listen as well. Kleinmann said he does not want to come in as an outsider throwing around his ideas of what is needed, but instead to “find what the city wants, find what can be done, and then lift up local leaders to get the people closer to their vision.”
