The final week of the regular season of Alabama high school football in the Montgomery area is here with Week 10. For the most part, the AHSAA football playoff field is set in the Montgomery area with only Carver-Montgomery playing a regional game in Week 10 because of Hurricane Isaias. The Montgomery Advertiser's high school football rankings will have one final ranking at the conclusion of the regular season. But as for Week 10, in the public school rankings — Prattville continues to be the best team in both the public field and entire state. The Lions captured its first regional title since 2011, and is now one of the No. 1 seeds in the Class 6A playoff bracket. Eight of the top 10 public schools in the Montgomery area earned playoff spots. On the private school side of the rankings, it's Montgomery Academy again with the No. 1 spot as the Eagles secured their third-straight regional title in Week 9. Former Alabama A&M standout to face Bulldogs as a Hornet in Magic City Classic
Franck Pierre knows what the Magic City Classic means to both sides of the rivalry between Alabama State football and Alabama A&M . This year's Classic, he'll experience it from a different side. Pierre, who led Alabama A&M in receiving yards in 2025, transferred to Alabama State ahead of the 2026 season. The receiver will face his former team Saturday when the Hornets and Bulldogs meet at Legion Field, giving him a different perspective on one of the biggest games in HBCU football. But Pierre isn't approaching Saturday's matchup with revenge on his mind. "I won't say revenge is on my mind because I don't have bad blood," Pierre told the Montgomery Advertiser. "A lot of things happened in the transfer portal. That's what got me here." Instead, Pierre said he's focused on maintaining his regular routine and preparing for the game, even with the added emotion that comes with facing his former teammates. That emotion extends beyond the football field. Before playing at Alabama A&M, Pierre played for Miles College and has developed connections throughout Birmingham, making Saturday's game a homecoming of sorts.
