Tipoff on The Plains: Auburn defeats ASU 84-35 in season opener
AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn used a 24-0 run to pull away from Alabama State in the second quarter, hammering the Hornets 84-35 Monday at Neville Arena in Tipoff on The Plains. “There’s nothing like that first game at home. We needed that 10 minutes to settle down,” said Auburn head coach Larry Vickers, embarking on his second season. “We incorporated our nine new players into our system. It was a good game for us overall.”

Auburn women's basketball blows out Alabama State in season opener
Auburn women's basketball got off to a slow start in Monday's season opener against Alabama State, but dominated the final three quarters en route to a convincing win. Auburn (1-0) outscored Alabama State (0-1) 69-19 in the final three quarters in its 84-35 win on Monday in Neville Arena. Auburn created separation from Alabama State in the 2nd quarter by going on a 24-0 run and never looked back. “Eventually, we felt like we could pull away. We settled down, tried not to panic, and began to move the ball,” Auburn head coach Larry Vickers said postgame. What made Auburn's run more impressive is that they accomplished it without guard Kaitlyn Duhon. Duhon exited in the 1st quarter due to a knee injury. Auburn got solid bench production in Duhon's absence from Zahara Bishop and Sania Richardson, who went 5-for-5 in the 2nd quarter and scored 13 points. Savannah Scott added eight points over the final three quarters and went 6-for-8 at the free-throw line. Auburn's defense also outrebounded the Hornets, 43-32, and forced Alabama State to shoot 24% in the game. “If you would’ve told me Kaitlyn Duhon would’ve played only eight minutes tonight and we’d play defense that

Where to watch Auburn vs. Alabama State on Monday: Time, TV, stream info
The Auburn Tigers open the season against the Alabama State Hornets on Monday. If you are wondering where to watch the action live, you are in the right place. Auburn women's basketball hopes to take a step forward in year two of the Larry Vickers era starting Monday against Alabama State in Neville Arena at 6 p.m. CT. Auburn started last season 8-0 but slipped far enough in SEC play to miss a postseason bid. Guards Ja'Mia Harris and Kaitlyn Duhon return to lead the Tigers this season, and a trio of transfers in Phoenix Stotijn, Danielle Osho, and Jessica Peterson aims to make a name for themselves in orange and blue. Alabama State finished last season with a 17-15 record, with most of their wins coming in SWAC play. This season, the Hornets are projected to finish third in the SWAC with Charlese McClendon, Ny'keria Flowers, and Caylee Simpson leading the charge. Monday's game between the Tigers and Hornets is the 25th all-time, with Auburn winning the previous 24 meetings. Last season, Harris and Duhon combined to score 30 points in Auburn's 82-41 win over the Hornets. The Tigers played stellar defense, limiting Alabama State to 27% shooting. Below,

ESPN predicts Auburn women's basketball's season-opener vs. Alabama State
Auburn women's basketball opens the 2026-27 season on Monday in Neville Arena against in-state foe Alabama State, and ESPN expects the Tigers to kick off year two of the Larry Vickers era with a convincing win. ESPN favors the Tigers in their Monday matchup with Alabama State by giving them a 99% chance to win. A win over Alabama State would give Auburn its second season-opening win in as many seasons under Vickers' leadership, and its second win over Alabama State in as many seasons. Last season, the Tigers beat the Hornets, 82-41, behind Mya Petticord's 21-point, four-assist outing. Last season's win over the Hornets was part of Auburn's 8-0 run to begin the season, which included wins over Rutgers, UTSA, and California. Ja'Mia Harris and Kaitlyn Duhon headline Auburn's roster this season as returning players, with Savannah Scott returning to Auburn after spending a season at UCF. Transfers Phoenix Stotijn (Indiana), Zahara Bishop (Seton Hall), and Danielle Osho (Miami) reached double figures in points in Auburn's final preseason exhibition against Columbus State, and freshman Ashley Knox is poised to break out this season. Auburn gets its season underway Monday at 6 p.m. CT against Alabama State. SEC Network+ will
