Michael Louis Marshik, 33, Pierz, was charged in Morrison County District Court with one felony count of second-degree assault and one felony count of threats of violence.

The charges stem from an April 5 incident, when the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic situation at a residence on 250th Avenue in Morrison County. A deputy and other law enforcement officers responded to the scene where Marshik was seated outside. It was reported that Marshik had told a family member that she was going to be dead before the end of the night. A second family member reported that Marshik threatened him with a stick.

The deputy approached Marshik and he was yelling and swearing at the deputy. Per the report, Marshik stated that he was going to fight with law enforcement officers, so they “better grab” their firearms. At one point, he inquired, “How long are you going to stand there before you grab your gun, simple as that.” Marshik continued to yell and swear at deputies and threaten them with violence.

According to the report, deputies informed Marshik that he was under arrest for the threats he made to family members. Marshik started yelling and stated he was not going to go to jail. Eventually, deputies were able to convince Marshik to calm down and he was placed in handcuffs and placed in a squad car. However, as deputies tried to drive away, Marshik started to bang his head against the squad car. Marshik stated that he was suicidal several times. Eventually, deputies were able to calm down Marshik sufficiently to bring him to jail.

Another deputy arrived at the first family member’s residence and spoke with her. She advised that Marshik told her that she would be dead before the day was over, and that she feared for her life. The deputy also spoke to the second family member. He stated that Marshik walked toward him with a three-foot-long stick, which he brandished like a baseball bat. He did not know if Marshik was going to attack him or the first family member. He thought Marshik would try to injure him with the stick because of how Marshik was acting. The second family member stated that Marshik asked him to unlock the gun safe so he could shoot himself, according to the report.

If convicted of the assault felony charge, Marshik faces up to seven years imprisonment and/or a $14,000 fine. If convicted of the threats of violence felony charge, Marshik faces up to five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine.
