Syracuse, NY -- “Super Mario,” a new street drug in Central New York, contains a synthetic opioid 100 times stronger than fentanyl, a Syracuse non-profit has found. It’s the first time the drug carfentanil has been detected in Syracuse’s street drug supply, said Roberto Gonzalez, ACR Health’s director of harm reduction and prevention.

New Syracuse summer basketball league debuts tonight; key Syracuse University players to be involved
Syracuse, N.Y. — A rebranded summer basketball league begins in Camillus tonight, with the promise of involvement by some Syracuse University players. Two of those players (JJ Starling, Kyle Cuffe) are returning to SU from the 2023-24 season. Two others (Eddie Lampkin and Lucas Taylor) were plucked from the 2024 transfer portal.

County Clerk offices in Onondaga and Madison counties registered 24 new businesses during the week of June 2 through 8. Cayuga County has not registered any new businesses in the last two weeks. According to the county clerk website, the county building was closed at the end of May due to material damage from heavy rain. The clerk’s office is working on setting up a remote site and is currently doing limited electronic processing.

Syracuse, N.Y. — A four-star offensive lineman from New Jersey who Syracuse football had pursued announced his commitment Tuesday afternoon in a live ceremony. Jaelyne Matthews verbally committed to Rutgers, which he had not publicly been considering in the final stages of his commitment. He told a Rivals reporter days before his commitment he was choosing between Georgia, Miami and Tennessee.
Two Suspects In Dewitt Smoke Shop Robbery Caught, Two More Wanted
Syracuse, N.Y. - Dewitt Police have arrested two teens and are still looking for two more suspects involved in a robbery in a stolen vehicle. On May 30th Dewitt Police responded to a robbery at the Loudpack Exotics cannabis smoke shop on Kinne Road, where the owner says about 32 hundred dollars worth of merchandise was stolen. The suspects were in a stolen SUV that was found later in the City of Syracuse.
