Woman charged with malicious wounding after incident in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A woman has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding, among other charges, after police were flagged down by a female victim bleeding from her face and hand in Petersburg.

At 3:36 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police were flagged down near 9 S. Sycamore St. by an unidentified female victim who was visibly bleeding from her face and hand.

These injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Officials said the assault occurred in the 30 block of N. Union Street, where the suspect, 26-year-old Quashayla Jones, was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Jones has been charged with malicious wounding, destruction of property and preventing or delaying communication to 911.

Jones is being held without bond pending her appearance in court.
