In high school softball, Brainerd was looking for win #10 as they hosted 6-3 St. Cloud on Tuesday. Brainerd gets a 2-1 victory over St. Cloud and improve to 10-1 on the season. Mya Tautges did it all for the Warriors, going two for three at the plate, allowing one run over eight winnings in the circle, and tallying 14 strikeouts.

Hackensack Auxiliary to distribute poppies May 10-11
Hackensack American Legion Auxiliary Unit 202 will distribute poppies to Hackensack businesses May 10-11. May is poppy month and red poppies are worn to commemorate the sacrifice of men and women who gave their lives fighting for their country. The Auxiliary requests that people wear a poppy in memory of U.S. veterans. Brainerd High School’s 49th annual All-Sports Banquet was held Monday night. While every senior student-athlete and team MVP was honored for their contributions, the evening wrapped up with the Warrior Athletes of the Year. Three-sport athlete Eli Hoelz was named Male Athlete of the Year, while two-sport athlete Molly Pohlkamp was recognized as Female Athlete of the Year.

BRAINERD, Minn. — A Minnesota man who kidnapped his 2-year-old son last year, triggering an AMBER Alert and a standoff, will be sentenced on Thursday. If all goes as planned, the Brainerd School District could have a new superintendent by May 13. On Tuesday, April 30, the School Board will meet to select finalists, and the first round of interviews is set for May 2 and 3.
