Thunderstorms may be a bit more widespread across West Texas later today, but before then in the mid afternoon, Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips expects temperatures to soar into the 80’s, 90’s, and low triple digits for most, above normal for this time of year. An unstable atmospheric disturbance to the southwest, combining with an uptick in surface moisture from the southeast, will combine to produce the muggier conditions today. Southwesterly winds in far western areas of The Trans Pecos will keep conditions mostly dry, but south-southeasterly winds in eastern areas will keep conditions a bit muggier. Where those winds will collide will be where the storms will form, but conditions will be clearer from clouds and cooler tomorrow as a cold front arrives with northwesterly to northeasterly winds.
Police: 18-year-old shot, killed on S. 12th street in Waco, suspect on the loose
WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department released the identity of the 18-year-old who died following a shooting on South 12th Street Monday afternoon. Waco Police say Anthony Powe was gunned down outside an apartment complex in the 900 block of S. 12th Street before 12:30 p.m. Officers tried to perform life-saving measures before he was taken to the hospital where he later died.
