Stony Brook men’s lacrosse’s season ends in Battle of Long Island
The Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team allowed its crosstown rival to play spoiler in its regular season finale. All the Seawolves (4-10, 2-5 CAA) needed to do on Saturday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to clinch a berth to the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) championship was to defeat the already-eliminated Hofstra Pride (6-9, 3-4 CAA). Instead, the visitors came out of the 14th edition of the Battle of Long Island as the victors in a wire-to-wire, 11-9 fashion.

The Hofstra University men’s lacrosse team defeated Long Island rival Stony Brook University 11-9 on Saturday, April 27. The win improved Hofstra to 3-4 in conference play and spoiled Stony Brook’s chance at making the Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA) championships. However, the Pride failed to make the tournament for the third year in a row due to Drexel’s win over Monmouth University on Friday, April 26.

Stony Brook center Keenan Fitzmorris will move westward and join Northwestern for the 2024-25 season as a graduate transfer, he announced on Instagram Sunday. During his senior season with the Seawolves, the 7-foot center averaged 10.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 35 appearances. Starting for most of December and January, he notched double-digit scoring in seven consecutive games.
