UNIVERSITY CIRCLE , Ohio (WJW) — University Circle Police Chief Tom Wetzel praised a young officer for going “above and beyond” this week.

When a man’s motorized wheelchair malfunctioned on Wednesday, right in the crosswalk at Circle Drive and Cornell Road, officer Nick Jennette “went right into action,” the department posted to its Facebook page .

“Today, he’s really sore,” Wetzel said wryly.

“It just really goes above and beyond,” he told FOX 8 News on Thursday, “You don’t see cops do that. It’s not that common. … It was a beautiful example of community policing at its best.”
