OXFORD TWP. (WWJ) -- Authorities are investigating after a motorcyclist from Orion Township was killed in a crash with a car in Oxford Township on Wednesday.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Jimmie Allen Haggadone was riding a Yamaha motorcycle southbound on North Lapeer Rd.(M-24) when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla that pulled out in front of him at the intersection of West Oakwood Rd., at around 4:45 p.m.

Haggadone had a flashing yellow signal, officials said, and the Corolla driver had a flashing red — which means the Corolla driver was at fault in the crash.

Haggadone was thrown from his bike, and landed in the median. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he later died, according to the sheriff's office. It's unknown if he was wearing a helmet.

The Corolla driver, identified as a 54-year-old Farmington Hills man, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

Officials said speed may have been a factor in this crash, although the investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is ongoing.
