HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A federal grand jury in Bowling Green has formally charged an Owensboro man on fentanyl trafficking and firearm offenses.

Officials state the grand jury returned the indictment on February 14, charging Donte Washington, 31, with possessing a fentanyl mixture with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm and possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officials say Washington is forbidden to own firearms due to being convicted on trafficking in a controlled substance in 2012 and 2013 and possessing a handgun by a convicted felon in 2018.

If convicted, Washington faces a maximum of 50 years in prison.
