Ellenville ShopRite To Close In August
The 55,500-square-foot store, located in Ulster County in Ellenville, at 1 ShopRite Boulevard off Route 209, was opened in 1993 by Wakefern Food Corporation in New Jersey. According to Karen O'Shea, the spokeswoman for the corporation, the store did not renew its lease and will close on Saturday, Aug. 31.
Two Sullivan County Legislators join fight to keep Exit 114 on Route 17 open
WURTSBORO – The calls to keep Exit 114 on Route 17 in Wurtsboro open continue to grow louder. Republican Sullivan County Legislators Terry Bernardo and Nicholas Salomone Jr. have written a letter to the State Department of Transportation (DOT) requesting that the exit remains open. Concerns over the possible closure of Exit 114 have grown as the DOT gets closer to finalizing its plans for bringing Route 17 in line with federal standards to make it an interstate highway.
Republican Primary debate for 100th Assembly district (VIDEO)
LIBERTY- The Republican candidates for the 100th Assembly district faced off in an hour-long debate to discuss who would be better suited to take on Democrat Paula Kay this November in an attempt to flip the seat from blue-to-red. The 100th Assembly district, which includes portions of Sullivan County as well as the Town of Wallkill and City of Middletown in Orange County, has been represented for more than two decades by Democrat Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther of Forestburgh.

Sullivan County students raise awareness for World No Tobacco Day
LIBERTY- This year in Sullivan County, almost 75 students participated in Chalk the Walk events in Roscoe and Monticello for World No Tobacco Day to expose big tobacco and raise awareness in their schools about the dangers of vaping. The Chalk the Walks were completed as part of the students’ CATCH My Breath vaping prevention program. The students went outside and wrote facts about vaping and tobacco, quit/support lines, and hashtags including:
