Janci Kimball hopes to leave Beaumont stronger than she found it
Gift of Life has named its 2026 Angels Among Us honorees, recognizing women in Southeast Texas for their community work. One of the four honorees is Janci Kimball, chief executive officer of Nutrition and Services for Seniors. “I feel very humbled to even be asked to do this because giving back is just something that we all need to be doing,” Kimball said. “We don't do it for the recognition and we don't do it for the money. We do it because we want to build a stronger Beaumont together, and just to be among these ranks of these women that are other Angels and past Angels before me, I'm just completely honored to be able to stand among them and be a part of this program.” Working in the nonprofit sector and volunteering have always been central to Kimball’s life, she said. Much of that work, she said, has focused on strengthening Beaumont. “I've always tried to volunteer because I really feel strongly in keeping Beaumont strong because I want my children to raise my grandchildren here,” she said. Kimball said her commitment to volunteerism started when her children were young, when she brought them along to teach them

Ask the Enterprise about public safety concerns in Beaumont
Beaumont residents with questions about safety, noise, flooding or traffic problems in their neighborhoods now have a place to ask them: the Enterprise. Neighborhood Watch is a new column focused on the specific concerns residents have where they live, not another general public safety feature. Have questions or concerns about loud trains, drainage problems or crime in your neighborhood? Send them our way, and we’ll try to find answers. RELATED: Newton County burn ban now in effect Email Beaumont Enterprise public safety reporter Megan Zapalac with your questions. In your email to megan.zapalac@beaumontenterprise.com, include your name, neighborhood and questions or concerns. Questions can cover several public safety issues including crime, unsafe intersections, flooding, road conditions and more. The Enterprise will use reader concerns to talk with residents and officials, track down information and explain what is happening. The column will publish every other Sunday. The Oct. 11 installment will look at railroad safety and noise concerns in Beaumont’s North End neighborhood. Beaumont museums team up for month of hands-on events
Did you know that Beaumont has more museums per capita than any other Texas city? “We have 12 museums just in this city,” Desiree Pete, director of marketing at Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), said. “There are six that are downtown within a five-block walkable stretch.” More than a decade ago, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas and the Texas Energy Museum teamed up for Museum Madness Day, which featured the art museum’s Eat-A-Bug Family Arts Day event and the Energy Museum’s Dino Day. Five years ago, the other downtown museums joined in to create Museum Madness Week. This year, so many organizations wanted to be involved that the CVB designated October as Museum Madness Month. Christle Feagin, director of the Texas Energy Museum, said the initial collaboration with the Art Museum of Southeast Texas was a way to promote both institutions. “You want people when they come downtown to have as many things as they can to go to,” she said. “If come here only for this and don't know the art museum, it's a perfect draw. You see people outside. It looks fun. It's cross promotion as well.” Downtown visitors on Oct. 17 will find downtown packed
