ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The Northwestern Red Raiders softball team picked up right where they left off last season as the Orange City crew boasts a 36-2 record. NWC is currently on a 19-game win streak with its last loss coming back on March 6th.

The program has shot its way atop the GPAC standings as the lone unbeaten in conference play with a 12-0 record, and for good reason. Northwestern ranks toward the top of many statistical GPAC categories, headlined by the highest on base percentage, lowest team ERA and fewest strikeouts in the league. Offense has followed suite sitting second in GPAC hits, RBI’s, batting average and slugging percentage.

Boasting one of the highest walk rates in the nation, Northwestern continues to stay disciplined at the plate and driven towards team wins. A selfless model that’s propelled to program towards impressive heights while staying attentive in its five keys to success.

“Attitude, effort, hustle, toughness, and defense. When we focus on those then we don’t get selfish or inward. We’re just really outward and we wanna pick each other up,” Northwestern junior pitcher Kate Kralik said.

“1-0. It doesn’t matter who gets a big hit or who messes up, it doesn’t matter. All we’re trying to do is become 1-0 to get that dub,” Northwestern senior pitcher Kameryn Etherington added.

“We have a very unselfish group of girls that’s willing to take a walk that are willing to sacrifice and move people around and it’s paid off. We’re in a pretty good spot right now. I like this group they’ve been fun to be a part of and we’re doing good things,” Northwestern head coach Shane Bouman mentioned.

Northwestern is back in action on April 16th in a doubleheader at Dordt. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the ASB Dome at Open Space Park.
