SHELDON—Three Sheldon men were arrested about 2:50 a.m. Sunday, June 4, on a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. The arrest of 19-year-old Omar Javier Ramirez Escobar, 25-year-old Edgar Ubaldo Morales Lopez and 20-year-old Genry Marvin Morales Lopez stemmed from an incident at their residence at 1708 E. Ninth St., according to the Sheldon Police Department.

Ireton, Iowa — An Ireton woman was taken to a hospital after an accident on Thursday morning, June 8. (Estherville)--An Estherville man wanted on warrants faces an additional charge after fleeing a deputy on a bicycle last month in Sheldon. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Eric Schwager was recognized by a deputy in the west Casey’s General Store in Sheldon on May 22nd. The deputy knew Schwager was wanted on O’Brien County warrants for possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, 3rd or subsequent offense and gathering where controlled substances are used.

Young named 2023 Middle Level Principal of the Year
(Marcus-Remsen) -- A KMAland native has received statewide recognition for their work in educational administration. MMCRU School District PreK-8 Principal Toby Young has been named the School Administrators of Iowa's 2023 Middle-Level Principal of the Year. An Essex native, Young graduated from Essex High School in 1997 and earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Northwest Missouri State University and a master's in educational administration from the University of Nebraska - Kearney. Young started his teaching career as a K-12 physical education teacher with the Farragut School District and was also a teacher and coach at Fremont-Mills before spending the past 10 years in northwest Iowa at MMCRU in Remsen as a 6-12 grade and PreK-8 principal. Young tells KMA News he was honored to be recognized by his peers across the state.
