BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A homicide investigation was launched over the weekend after a woman’s body was found, hands bound behind her back, inside a boarded up apartment in Oildale, according to a court filing.

There was blood behind one of the woman’s ears, according to a warrant filed by sheriff’s investigators. She was found Saturday inside an apartment on Universe Avenue, next to North High School.

Her name has not been released by the coroner’s office.

A person who spoke with investigators said she arrived to find a heavyset man with gray, straggly hair and a gray beard inside the apartment, the warrant says. He left and told her he was going to call 911, she said.

The man wore gardening gloves, a blue jacket and black jeans, she told investigators.

Deputies found someone matching that description down the street, according to the warrant. They noticed blood on his gloves, the filing says.

A DNA cheek swab was taken from the man, the warrant says. Also seized were the gloves, a pocketknife and multiple items inside the apartment. It did not appear from booking and court websites that an arrest was made or charges filed.
