Fatal crash resulting in death of one Odessan

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Odessa Police Department reported a major crash that resulted in the death of one person.

OPD reported that the major crash happened around 5:56 a.m., on Saturday, April 20 in the 4100 block of East 42 ^nd Street.

The investigation reports showed that a silver Honda Civic, with 21-year-old driver Carla Mendez of Odessa, was traveling westbound of 4100 block of East 42 ^nd Street when she veered off the roadway for unknown reason and struck a power pole.

Odessa Police Department reported that Mendez was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased by medical personnel and next of kin were notified.

OPD reported that no other injuries occurred, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
