A.J. Holloway Sports Complex renovations nearing completion
BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Dirt piles and tractors have been the sight at A.J. Holloway Sports Complex for some time, but some areas could be finished by the end of next week. New sod on the soccer and football field is currently being laid down. That is projected to be completed by Aug. 2nd, but it has to sit a bit before teams can take the field. Soccer season in November will be the first teams on the turf.
Shuckers Fall to Blue Wahoos, 4-3, in Extra-Innings Affair
PENSACOLA, FL – In a game dominated by pitching, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-46, 15-9) fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (51-41, 13-11), 4-3 in 11 innings at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Thursday night. The game marked the longest of the second half for the Shuckers by innings and their longest of the season by time at three hours and 30 minutes.

Blalock's Dominant Start Leads Shuckers to Shutout Win over Blue Wahoos
PENSACOLA, FL – Behind 5.1 shutout innings from starter Bradley Blalock, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-45, 15-8) earned their ninth shutout win of the year in a 3-0 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (50-41, 12-11) at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Wednesday night. With the win, the Shuckers became the first Southern League team to reach 15 wins in the second half.

Ocean Springs, Miss. (WXXV) – “It’s a culture, you know what I’m saying? We have to do this. If you don’t do it you are doing something wrong.”. A big statement coming from a big time player that is part of a big time team. Ocean Springs finished last years regular season 9-1 and were a perfect 5-0 in regional play, finishing in first place. While the Greyhounds had success in the regular season, they were bounced in the first round of the playoffs. Losing 35-23 to the Meridian Wildcats. Senior Bryant Ausmer, junior Sharroid Whitehead, and head coach Jake Bramlett say that last season is behind them and they are focused on finishing this season stronger.
Southern Miss visits Gulfport with 2024 Gulf Coast Beach Bash event
On Thursday, the Southern Miss Alumni Association held their Gulf Coast Beach Bash event at Sully’s in Gulfport. Golden Eagles fans and alumni gathered together to hear from the schools president, athletic director, and head football coach Will Hall. This was one of the many stops throughout the Magnolia state that the Alumni Association has been to this summer. Sports 25 had the chance to speak with coach Hall before the event and he spoke on how important South Mississippi is to him, his football program, and the entire University of Southern Miss.
