Students sharpen hunting skills at Youth Hunter Education Challenge
More than 100 young hunters, ages 10-18 from across the state, came together at the Woodworth Education Center and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Shooting Range Saturday to sharpen their skills and compete for awards in regional Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) events hosted by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).
Six people arrested for hogwash entries into hog hunting contest
SALINE - Six hunters were arrested for allegedly catching hogs in Texas and using them as winning entries into Louisiana hog hunting contests. Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries found evidence that the six participants—Trace Davis, 30, of Longville, Hunter Webb, 27, of Pitkin, Colby Bushnell, 26, of Dry Creek, Davy Haymon, 35, of Pitkin, Nathan Granger, 34, of Vinton, and Don Pollard Jr., 40, of Pitkin—caught wild hogs in Texas before bringing them as entries into two hog hunting contests in Bienville and Caldwell Parishes.
RPSO investigating shooting near 4000 block of Shreveport Highway
PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred near the 4000 block of Shreveport Highway. Around 5:30 p.m. on June 11, RPSO said a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg entered a business in that area after coming from a nearby home where the shooting allegedly occurred. The man was transported to a local hospital to treat his injury, which was non-life-threatening.
